Hidden Lab for Mad Scientists
The project starts with transforming a collage object into a “section collage”, in which the relationships between lines and surfaces, solids and voids are explored. The concept is developed from two different readings of the collage object, one is reading them defined by profile lines, the other by their volumes. The labrotory is a gradual transformation from a poche-heavy side with tunnel-like spaces served as separate laboratories, to a poche-light, surface dominating side with open spaces for communal living. The labrotary is situated halfly underground at an abandoned salt mine in west Australia, with the salt dunes migrating with wind, the labrotory will be fully covered and hidden from the world.
